2012 Jaguar Bertone B99 concept’s – The B99 features clamshell-type doors and a modified version of the current XF/XJ grille. But its lines and overall styling theme echo earlier Jaguar designs, notably the original XJ. The concept’s cabin is trimmed in brushed aluminum, leather and polished wood, as well as analog gauges, a pop-up rotary gear selector and a satellite-navigation screen hidden behind a sliding panel, according to Autocar.

The B99 is relatively compact, at 181 inches long. It is only 53 inches tall and a rather ample 77 inches wide. Several European publications reported that the small Jaguar concept is intended to give the British automaker a latter-day rival to the BMW 3 Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class — a role the now-defunct X-Type never quite fulfilled.

Jaguar has officially taken the wraps off its all-new XJ sedan, but the British automaker is reportedly already working on another XJ-variant. Jaguar design head Ian Callum hinted at the possibility of an XJ Coupe at the unveiling of the XJ sedan, so we decided to employ our best artists to see what a two-door version of the big cat might look like.

Up front the XJ Coupe – rumored to be called the XJC in production form – largely mirrors the styling from its four-door counterpart, but does feature a slightly more aggressive front fascia. The XJ’s lines flow nicely into its two-door silhouette, with wide fender flares giving a hint of Bentley design.

The coupe’s flowing lines meld nicely at the rear of the car, with the absence of blacked out pillars giving the XJC a more concise look. Vertical exhaust outlets further differentiate the XJC from the standard XJ.

Powering the XJC, should it make it to production, will likely be a combination of the three engines in the XJ sedan, starting with a 385 horsepower 5.0-liter naturally-aspirated V8, a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 good for 470 hp and the top-of-the-range supercharged 5.0-liter that is good for 510 hp. All engines features a 6-speed automatic in the sedan, but there is a possibility that a manual may make an appearance in the more sport-oriented convertible XJ.

Jaguar has yet to indicate when the XJC will make production, but look for the coupe variant to carry a premium over the XJ sedan that starts just under $75,000.

2011 Jaguar R D6, was first debut at 2003 Frankfurt International Motor Show. It would build on the R-Coupe and further develop Jaguar’s new design direction. Jaguar R D6 also takes advantage of Jaguar lightweight structure strategy, as pioneered in the new XJ saloon. 

Using aluminium and composite materials for the chassis and body, R-D6 weighs just 1500kg. Jaguar R-D6 Concept is powered by a high-performance 2.7-litre diesel engine, Confirming Jaguar as a potent new force in the world of large-capacity diesels, the bi-turbo V6 is a tuned version of the engine that will make its debut in the S-TYPE in 2004. 

With horsepower in excess of 230bhp and a massive 500Nm of torque, the V6 diesel engine endows R-D6 with the pace to satisfy its looks and R-Performance rating. Acceleration from standstill to the benchmark 60mph takes less than six seconds. Top speed is an electronically limited 155mph.

Goodwood Festival of Speed when it's invited to drive something up the hill. But this isn't just something, this is a Jaguar D-Type. And not just any Jaguar D-Type but the original 1954 prototype, powered by a 3.4-litre straight six with about 245bhp. Top speed is around 175mph, it's utterly unique and is worth millions. Literally. Many millions.

This made Top Gear nervous. But you know what? Although almost entirely original, right down to the frayed and baggy gearlever gaiter, it was an absolute honey to drive. OK, so as you can see in the video it bogged down a bit off the line, but then pulled so hard down the first straight that it was genuinely quite shocking. So Top Gear forgot the price and got totally swept along by the driving experience which was just stunning: beautifully delicate steering, snickety gearshift and friendly handling. It was totally delightful and a massive, massive privilege.
