2014 Jaguar Crossover

This time it was almost confirmed by Jaguar Land Rover spokesman Stuart Schorr who said that the future line-up will include "expansion of our portfolio from the current eight models over the next five years, including at least two new models, as well as a number of new body styles and a broader range of engines and technologies."

It is believed that a crossover will help Jaguar’s sales. And this statement should come as no surprise. Imagine how many people will be interested in a crossover with a design similar to the recently launched XJ sedan and with a luxurious interior.

The future Jaguar crossover will be built on the same platform as the recently launched Land Rover Evoque. It will be an all-wheel-drive model powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder. You wouldn’t have expected to see a four-cylinder engine in a Jaguar crossover, right? But taken under consideration the current situation, it seems to be the perfect choice. A four-cylinder engine will ensure a low fuel consumption, and in turbocharged version will deliver enough power to offer great performance numbers for the crossover.

The list of competitors will start with the Land Rover Evoque and will also include models like Audi Q5 or BMW X3. The Evoque is powered by a 2.0-liter Si4 turbocharged engine that combines direct fuel injection and twin variable valve timing. In USA it will be priced from around $45k.

The entry-level sedan market is a crowded area. There are more vehicles on sale in this segment than there are Walmarts in small towns. Well, maybe not that many, but you get the idea. In order to break through the segment barrier, you need a special vehicle, and not just moderately special either. To find success, an automaker needs something brilliant.

The exterior look of the baby Jaguar will carry over some of the design elements of the XF and XJ. That big gaping front grille will be featured and it might have the same taillights as the XJ. In fact, from the sketches we have seen, the back of the sedan looks a lot like the flagship XJ. It should be interesting to see if these styling cues will actually be used, or if these images are just fantasy. The new baby Jaguar is depicted in many renderings as a four-door coupe, but a more conventional four-door sedan and five-door estate are being designed as well by Jaguar.

We should look to the new Range Rover Evoque for an idea of likely engines to be in the baby Jaguar. The Ford 2.0-liter four-cylinder Ecoboost engine is just about guaranteed, while the 2.2-liter diesel is likely as well. All motors will be connected to a ZF eight speed automatic. They will also be turning up a 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel and a hybrid version that will combine a V6 diesel with a 47 HP electric motor. The power will delivered to the rear wheels.

Seeing as how we are calling this machine Jaguar’s 3-Series, it’s obvious that the BMW will be a main rival, as will the two other German machines, the C-Class and the A4. Cadillac will offer up the CTS and Lexus has the IS. There are a few others that will compete against it too, but until we know more on the X760, we will have to wait and see.

The British manufacturer’s first ever diesel-powered sports car will get a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 to take on models like the BMW 635d, which has become the best-selling car in its class in the UK and Europe.

In the new, lightweight aluminium-alloy XK, the punchy 3.0 turbodiesel promises a practical mix of performance and economy, with 0-60mph in under five seconds and a combined average of 30mpg within its grasp. With V8 levels of torque on offer, the XK D could even become the ‘sleeper’ in the range, boasting giant-killing in-gear acceleration for strong point-to-point driving pleasure.

Significantly, as the market has shifted towards diesel sports cars, it should also help to lift the XK’s production average back up to 10,000 to 12,000 units per year by exposing the XK to a large new market segment. To refresh the Jaguar sports car concept, the XK will feature all-new sheetmetal and a new grille design that will ditch today’s ‘Spitfire wing’ oval shape, which dates back to the E-type of the 1960s.

This traditional shape will be dropped for two reasons. Firstly, it can’t easily be expanded to make a bolder front-end statement. “It just looks wrong when it’s stretched,” said one insider. Secondly, the oval shape has proved to be less of a success overseas, where research shows it can be confused with other brands’ grilles.

Instead, Jaguar is deriving a new shape from the oblong design launched on the XF, but with its own unique characteristics. “The studio has explored dozens of variations. It’s just a matter of choosing the right one,” said another insider.

The XK’s exterior sheetmetal is also expected to move Jaguar design further forward again, just as today’s Ian Callum-designed model did when it was launched in 2006. Although the final styling still has to be chosen, the favoured sketches are understood to feature crisper metalwork and more developed body surfacing.

According to a recent report, Jaguar will launch a hybrid in 2013 or 2014.While details are limited, Car Magazine is reporting the hybrid will likely feature a 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel engine, a 35 kW (47 hp / 48 PS) electric motor, and an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission.

The first hybrid is expected to be the XJ, but Jaguar-Land Rover's chief hybrid engineer Peter Richings stated the hybridized transmission can fit into any vehicle with a longitudinal layout. This means virtually every Jaguar (with the exception of the X-type) can use the system.

More importantly, Jaguar is considering range-extending hybrids. Like the Chevrolet Volt, these models would use an electric motor, a lithium-ion battery pack, and a small petrol (or diesel) engine generator. When the batteries are depleted, the engine would turn on to recharge them and simultaneously provide power to the electric motor.

Our cunning spy photographers caught this Jaguar XF prototype trolling around Europe. It seems with the all-new new, bigger XJ on the streets, officials thought it best to refresh the aging XF sedan's form

Camouflage predominantly hides this tester's nose and tail -- the two areas expected to get the most XJ-esque reshaping. The headlamps, for example, become slimmer; the tight matrix grille more upright; and the triplet of lower inlets sleeker. Look closely and you'll notice a bulbous, chiseled hood.

Rumors maintain that a few interior modifications will arrive with the refresh, as will a revised engine range. An XF wagon should arrive simultaneously with the sedan, too. Exactly when they'll hit the market is still anyone's guess.

According to Car Magazine, the British brand is working on the 2013 Jaguar XE - a new coupe and roadster line-up that will fall in the same market segment as the Porsche Boxter and Cayman. The new 2013 Jaguar XE is part of a new company strategy that aims to transform it into the British Porsche. The 2013 Jaguar XE price should fall in the 60,000 Euros range.

The 2013 Jaguar XE will have a new lightweight architecture and although it will fight Porsche, it will have a front-engine platform with rear-wheel-drive.

The power of the 2013 Jaguar XE is expected to come from a supercharged V6 engine developing around 350 hp or a naturally aspirated one with 270 hp.

The 2013 Jaguar XE is expected to spawn a 2013 Jaguar XER version in two years time after the launch of the base model.

2013 Jaguar XKR, and now we have the convertible, non-R variant fresh from the testing grounds. Due in late 2012 as a 2013 model, the whole XK family should share the look of the drop-top seen here.

The differences are, as tends to be the case with Jaguar, evolutionary rather than revolutionary, with updates to the front and rear fascia putting a new look on the familiary profile. That's not to say the car won't be heavily revised beneath the surface, however. The interior should also see some freshening.

Powertrain plans for the next XK are still in the dark, but we'd expect the current range of V-8s to carry forward, possibly with technical updates to reduce emissions and/or increase power.

The current XK fields a 5.0-liter V-8 rated at 385 horsepower in the coupe and convertible versions, with the XKR adding a supercharger to the mix for 510 ponies. Six-speed autos are the only option throughout.Stay tuned for further updates as the 2013 Jaguar XK range progresses through the development cycle--we'll have the latest as it breaks

Jaguar also introduced hybrid will use the platform from the Range Rover Sport Hybrid, made from eight ZF automatic transmission ratios: will be installed inside an electric motor (35 kW), powered by lithium ion batteries and synchronized to work in parallel with the six-cylinder diesel.

The British group will then continue the development of hybrid modules to propose, in 2015, with an architecture operating in series, even more refined species in electric mode: according to first estimates, even the most corpulent models can go at least thirty miles an maximum speed of 70 km / h using only the electric motor to lower overall emissions to 100 grams of CO2 per kilometer.

The new roadster model dubbed the XE, which is expected to arrive in the next year or two. However, to keep sales of the current XK and high-performance XKR chugging along in the meantime, Jaguar also has several updates in store for its flagship coupe and convertible.

A successor is planned, though its release keeps getting pushed back due to limited resources at the British marque. No matter as the platform residing in the current XK is superb and the car’s styling remains drop dead gorgeous.

The 2013 Jaguar XK will be offered with a new V6 diesel engine that delivers a total of 300 hp with the same level of torque as a V8 engine.Since the design of the current generation XK didn’t have the overwhelmingly glowing support Jaguar was expecting, the brand decided to re-invent the next-generation car by taking some styling cues - yet keeping some unique characteristics of its own - from the current Jaguar XF model.

The 2013 XK will be offered in a coupe and a convertible version, the latter still being a soft-top roof model. The company’s main concern with the new generation XK will be to go from the current 10,000 to 12,000 units a year.

In terms of powertrains, most of the supercharged and naturally aspirated V-8 units of the current model will carry over but with minor revisions for emissions regulations and possibly more power.

Jaguar preparing New X Type to take on BMW 3 Series
This could be the most exciting news for all Jaguar fans. Jaguar, the Tata Motors owned British marquee finally announced their plans to launch a super stylish compact saloon by 2012. This move is believed as an important step to take on their German arch rival BMW 3 Series. The new baby Jaguar will sit below current Jaguar XF range and will be replacing current X type.

Auto Express claims that this news has been confirmed by none other than Carl-Peter Forster, who heads Tata Motors globally. In his words, “for Jaguar to take on its German competitors globally, a smaller, higher sales volume saloon was a necessity, and so work has begun on the new car”. This new saloon will replace non performing X Type which is based on Ford Mondeo. The new Jaguar X Type will be coming with cutting edge design and stylish curves but will be keeping it’s distinction from biggies like Jaguar XF and XJ.

The front cluster could be derived from Jaguar XF sedan, which will essentially carry the mesh type front grille and swept back headlights. The rear may sport more curves than current Jaguar line up. This new saloon could be all aluminium body which will be superlight weight and will definitely give an edge to this new baby Jaguar interms of fuel economy.

Tata may fit a down sized four cylinder petrol and diesel motors in 2012 Jaguar X Type. The diesel motor will be replacing Ford’s 2.2ltr diesel engine that powering Jaguar Land Rover Freelander. A 3.0ltr V6 Turbodiesel may also join later on and by 2015 a hybrid power house may get introduced in Jaguar X Type. We know it’s too early to talk about something five years down the line.

Jaguar has a V6 diesel-engined version of its XK sports car in development. The company has tested the car at the Nürburgring, where Autocar’s spy photographers heard the engine’s diesel rattle. The Jaguar XK D is powered by the new 272bhp twin-turbo 3.0-litre V6 that’s due to be launched in the XF this spring.

Despite putting the engine through its paces on the track, Jaguar has chosen to monitor sales of the new 5.0-litre V8-powered XK before deciding whether to put the XK D into production.
A decision is now unlikely before the end of 2009, so the XK D wouldn't go on sale until at least 2011.
Jaguar is concerned that the XK D might scavenge sales from the naturally aspirated 5.0-litre V8 XK, on which it can make a greater profit.A sales analysis of the BMW 6-series supports these worries. Sales of the twin-turbo 635d have displaced those of the 630i and 650i.
A Jaguar XK D would be a potent tool. Powered by the highest-output version of Jaguar’s new twin-turbodiesel, which develops 442lb ft, it could match the XF 3.0D’s 0-60mph in 5.9sec, 50-70mph in 3.2sec and 42mpg combined economy.

That would put the Jaguar XK D close to the new 5.0-litre V8 XK’s 0-60mph in 5.2sec and 50-70mph in 2.5sec, themselves impressive figures, since they match those of the outgoing XKR.
Another possibility is for the diesel to be held in abeyance until an all-new XK arrives in 2014 or 2015.That car could grow in size to become a full four-seater like the Maserati Gran Turismo, leaving space for the Boxster-chasing front-engined XE two-seater.

Jaguar has a new sports car in development, and is aiming to roll it out at the 2011 Geneva Auto Show, with hopes of putting into production for 2012. The Jaguar model, the XE, will be positioned under the XK, and aimed squarely at Porsche's 911. The debut of this much anticipated vehicle will be on the 50th anniversary of the iconic Jaguar E-Type, its spiritual successor. Rumors of a smaller, more focused Jaguar sports car have been around for decades. Ford, which never truly understood Jaguar, cancelled work on one called the F-Type about 10 years ago deciding to focus the company's resources instead on the development of diesel engines and the X-Type wagon.

2012 Jaguar XE will employ the platform of the XK. All the same, it will be a big challenge to strip off the XK's 4.79 meter length and 1.89 meter width to make something with a length of 4.08 meters and a width of 1.78 meters against the rival Mercedes-Benz SLK. There are also speculations that Jaguar might produce other versions from a longer wheelbase variant of this narrowed platform, possibly offering range to develop four-seater niche entries to stand up against the competition in the compact premium class. Most reports have speculated that Jaguar's newest model will be a lightweight sports car. Jaguar even previewed such a car back in 2000 when it rolled out the original F-Type Concept. The XE will be based on the Jaguar range's flexible architecture, which accommodates the XK, XF and the all-new XJ, and is designed to be a larger, more formal version of the XF, but more lowslung than the current, conservative XJ.

The new 5.0-liter AJ-V8 Gen III engines -- 385hp in naturally aspirated form, and 510hp with a supercharger -- will give the smaller, lighter XE plenty of punch. European buyers may also be offered the XE with the zippy 272hp version of the new 3.0-liter V-6 diesel that will soon debut in the XF sedan. The new sports car is tipped to be a front-engined, rear-wheel-drive vehicle.

There is speculation that the XE will also feature a plug-in hybrid option in addition to its standard power plant. As well as a plug-in option, Jaguar is also considering a smaller bio-diesel engine after the first year's models roll off the production line. The hybrid would be a gas sipping 3 cylinder gas/electric hybrid version, set up similarly to Chevrolet's upcoming Volt EV. With this model Tata aims to compete directly with other electric roadsters builders like Tesla and Fisker. Expect the 2012 XE Hybrid to be powered by a lithium ion battery pack, as opposed to today's nickel based energy storage devices. The small displacement motor will act mainly to recharge the batteries which they will run off of most of the time, just like General Motors' Volt. In the Chevrolet Volt's powertrain, dubbed Voltec, a battery provides power to an electric motor which drives the vehicle. The Voltec system uses a small four-cylinder engine that kicks on to recharge the battery after 40 miles of driving, extending the range of the vehicle. But the engine can only sustain a certain charge level in the battery - to fully recharge the battery, the vehicle must be plugged in to another power source, like a household outlet.

Here are the latest spy shots of the upcoming facelifted 2012 Jaguar XF.Spied for the first time winter testing in Scandinavia, the modest update that the XF will get is not easily being given away here. In fact, the camouflage maybe tells us there will be substantial stylistic revisions to both the front and rear ends of the car.

The design changes to the front fascia appear to include a larger grille and new headlights. At the back is a new taillight cluster and a revised bumper. But since Jag is still covering body panels such as the side wings (front and back) as well as the bonnet and trunk, there may be even more changes to the XF's styling coming than we've been able to spot.

No new power plants are expected under the hood but a future Jaguar XF model range may also sport a hybrid variant, as Jaguar showed such a prototype last year.
