The 2011 edition of the race lived up to its reputation for great racing and good times.A field of 56 cars took the green flag at 10:30 AM, waved by Jaguar Heritage Trust Chairman Mike O'Driscoll. The field included a wide variety of production-based and specialty racer cars from around the world.

For the beginning of its second ALMS season, the now two-car JaguarRSR team showed strength. Early in the race, contact caused damage to the bodywork of the number 098 XKR GT, though it did not take the Jag out of the race.Working hard to conserve its Dunlop tires, the 098's three drivers (PJ Jones, Kenny Wilden and Rocky Moran, Jr.) did a great job getting the car through all 12 hours of its first endurance race. The car ran as high as 9th, often posting lap times a half second faster than those posted during qualifying - a very good sign that there will be more to come from both the cars and the drivers.

Several XKs and XJs received the once over and the all star product specialist team, including former Jaguar IMSA Champ Davy Jones and Indy Car star Roberto Guerrero, to name two, answered questions and engaged in their share of "bench racing" with the display visitors. An added treat was in Sebring's Motorsports Hall of Fame - the Group 44 Jaguar XJ5 IMSA GTP racer made a rare appearance alongside the teams Series III V-12 E-Type which won the Sports Car Club of America's B Production championship in 1974. It was the famous E-Type's last appearance before heading back to the U.K. for Goodwood's annual Festival of Speed.

Jaguar has started the countdown to the launch of the all new aluminium XJ model, by releasing this teaser shot of the car - see above. Jaguar is expected to bring us a few more pictures from obscure angles before the car is revealed properly in London on the 9th July.

From the picture, we can see that the XJ will abandon many of its current 60's styling cues and go for a look much closer to the incredibly successful XF model. It should have a much wider grille than the current XF and the headlights will be much sleeker units more akin to those seen on the C-XF concept.

The roofline will be a flowing curvy affair, with the option of a full length panoramic glass sunroof letting plenty of light into what will be a very advanced interior, again taking XF styling and stretching it further, and the rear c-pillars look to be very narrow, with the majority of the metal hidden behind blacked out glass. The XJ may even be a lift back rather than a saloon car - we will have to wait and see!

Jaguar and Bertone. Mix these two names and you’ll certainly get an explosive, yet elegant result. Want the proof? Come to Geneva and you’ll meet the Bertone Jaguar B99 concept. As you know, the four-door coupe segment has been following an ascending trend in the last few years, with more and more carmakers joining the game.

However, Bertone decided to reinvent this, offering a four-door coupe that doesn’t come with a swooping roofline. Instead, the coupe image is created by the fact that the rear doors are half the size of the front ones. The vehicle is 4.5 meters long, 1.35 meters tall and 1.95 meters wide, fitting into the D segment.

It also uses modular, Extended Range Hybrid system that uses twin 204 hp electric motors connected to the rear axle, as well as a 1.4-liter engine that produces 170 hp and is used as a range extender. The system offers a combined output of 570 hp. The internal combustion unit charges the Li-ion battery pack, offering a theoretical range of 700 km (435 miles), with the all-electric mode offering a range of 100 km (62 miles).

“The deep, dark brown interior is rich in two-tone leather, one with an extra opaque, big grain finish and the other with a pearl, semi-gloss, small grain finish. This dark, luxurious ambient is offset with bright accents in both brushed aluminum and high gloss wood which generate a hidden richness throughout the interior,” stated the press release.

The standard S-Type had its distinctive features, distinguishing marks that had already introduced something new era in the Jaguar: a dynamic and sporty line, and the unmistakable oval grille and trim the tail. The ability of the body Panzani was to adhere to these tenets, twisting everything that’s around: carrozeria the building has been completely re-used in sheet metal components entirely ad hoc, staying perfectly on the original anchors. The wheel arches have been widened to 10 cm on both axes and connected perfectly on the new bumper: In the front there are two large air intakes that balance the aesthetic balance of flashy Jaguar grille, and above all optimize the flow of water towards The braking system which – as we shall see later – was obviously increased.

Another key hallmark of the S-Type has been met with fist in defiance of the dictates of fashion, they always want a facelift to the look of the creatures, the headlights have been kept original and only covered with metal grilles that recall the wise racing cars of the ’70s.The only concession to modernity that have been granted is a pair of emitting LED daytime slots at the bottom of the bumper. The mirrors are a gem: small, round, perfectly integrated in the doors and especially very old style. There’s past has been preserved also in the choice of the cap of gasoline, now fully exposed.

While respecting the oval of the moldings, the actions on the queue status are more invasive: in this case, for example, the original lights were replaced by two elements led to 180mm in diameter and well in the bumper has been build a new extractor Maranello air style that has “imposed” the choice of a central outlet to double output of 100mm in diameter. The ultimate in sophistication was reserved for the body color, a particular composition studied from the center of the Panzani Design style: it is a gray / lava intense and full bodied, a very uniform grain and then treated with a transparent finish.

The structure of Vintage GT was even more extreme, with a lowering of 40mm on both axes, and an enhanced braking system with discs and calipers with 4 pistons plus. A body so impressive, then, could only take appropriate wheel groups: OZ rims 10 “x 20″ front and 12 “x 20″ rear, on which they were keyed respectively 255/35 and 305/30 tires.
